The founding gesture: crease to transform

At Joli Jour, we like to play with materials.

Joli Jour Paris wandering canvases are born of a unique know-how: that of the Artysse workshop, creators of crumpled and pleated paper paintings.
Each piece is handcrafted, in an approach that blends innovation, exacting standards and respect for materials.

At Artysse, paper is not just a support. It becomes a material in its own right, worked like a textile.
The process is simple in appearance, but meticulous in execution:

Each sheet is crumpled by hand to break up the fiber, softening it and giving it a supple, fabric-like fall.

This gesture transforms smooth paper into a surface rich in folds and relief, capturing light and revealing the depth of visuals.

Controlled, responsible printing

Once prepared, the paper is printed locally (less than 4 km from the workshop), using eco-friendly, solvent-free vegetable latex inks.
The choice of recyclable paper of French origin reinforces this sustainable approach, while guaranteeing quality and durability over time.

A handcrafted finish

To hang and transport our canvases, Artysse designs and manufactures its own wooden fixing rods, cut and assembled by hand in their workshop.
The wood is PEFC-certified, from sustainably managed forests, and contributes to the sober, natural aesthetic.

Innovation for wall art

This technique – the only one of its kind in France – makes it possible to create light, flexible and durable works. The transformed paper acquires a lively texture reminiscent of the patina of time: like an old canvas whose cracks, folds and nuances tell a story.
Each canvas vagabond thus becomes a singular piece, at the crossroads of pictorial art and paper craftsmanship.
